TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iraq Quran activist hailed the spread of online Quranic learning, saying it is especially good for women.

Speaking to IQNA, Zaman Abdul Kadhim said women usually find it difficult to attend Quranic classes for various reasons and online learning gives them a chance to learn the Quran and enhance their Quranic skills.

She also noted that various online Quranic courses are held by Iraqi Quranic centers and that they are very popular.

She further called for establishment of a Quran ministry in Islamic countries to develop Quranic activities and programs.

Just as there are ministries of youths and sports, there needs to be special ministries for Quranic activities in Muslim countries, said Zaman, who was in Tehran recently to attend an international Quran completion for women.

Referring to her Quranic achievements, the Iraqi woman said she stated to memorize the Holy Book after entering university.

“I managed to learn the Quran by heart in two years and since have taken part in different Quran competitions in Iraq.”

She said she enhanced her Quranic skills by taking the courses held at al-Anwar Quranic Center in Najaf.

Zaman also noted that for memorization of the Quran, she would listen to Quran recitations by Egyptian Qari Sheikh Muhammad Sidiq Minshawi.

The second international Quran competition for women was held here in the Iranian capital on April 21-24.
