Malaysia Int’l Quran Contest: Panel of Judges
According to IQNA dispatches, Haji Othman bin Mustapha, who heads Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) is the chairman of the panel of judges.
The vice chairmen, Muhammad Nureddin bin Ibrahim and Haji Fimuzi bin Yahya are also both Malaysian.
Other members include Muhammad Ali Atfay from Morocco, Sheikh Ahmed Issa al-Ma’asarwi, Syed Ali Abdul Majid Abdul Sami, and Sheikh Abdul basit Muhammad Ahmed Amara from Egypt, Sheikh Abdul Rashid Sufi from Qatar, Ahmed bin Ali Sedis from Saudi Arabia, Syed Aqil Hussein Munawar from Indonesia, and Haj Sharif bin al-Haj Abdul Rahman from Thailand.
According to the regulations of the contest, contenders in the category of recitation will be scored based on their observance of Tajweed (40 points), Lahn (25 points), Fasaha (articulacy) (20 points) and Sawt (voice) (15 points).
In memorization, 55 points is given for Husn Hifz (accurate memorization), 35 points for Tajweed and Fasaha and 10 points for Sawt.
The 60th edition of Malaysia’s international Quran competition kicked off at the Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
Quran reciters and memorizers from 56 countries are attending the Quranic event, which will run until Saturday, May 12.
