Top Contenders in Oman’s Students Quran Contest Awarded

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Winners of a student Quran contest in Oman were awarded in a ceremony with the participation of high-ranking officials of the Arab country.

 

 According to al-Raya newspaper, Yahya ibn Mahfouz Mundhiri, Chairman of State Council of Oman, Madiha bint Ahmad Al-Shaybaniya, Oman’s Minister of Education, and a number of the country’s royal family members attended the program.

Oman’s Ministry of Education held the ceremony on May 12.

150 girls and boys competed on memorization of the Holy Quran in six categories including memorization of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 Juzes (parts) of the Quran.

The students from Al-Sharqiyah North, Al-Dakhiliyah and Al-Batinah North governorates won the top three ranks respectively.

Speakers at the ceremony stressed that teaching the Quran is a priority in Oman’s education system.

The Sultanate of Oman is an Arab country on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Virtually all Omanis are Muslims.
