A number of Quranic, religious and cultural officials and members of the Iranian Quranic community attended the ceremony at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall).
It began with recitation of verses from the Quran by prominent Qari Hamid Reza Ahmadi Vafa.
A video-message by grand source of emulation Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani was then played at the ceremony in which the senior cleric underlined that the Holy Quran has endless secrets to be discovered.
Next, Iranian Culture Minister’s Quran and Ertat Deputy Abdol Hadi Feqhizadeh briefed the participants on the programs of the expo, saying some 150 programs will be held during the 14-day event.
There will be forums, seminars and presentation of art works with the theme of the Holy Quran, and a number of Quran activists and figures active in promoting the Quran will be honored during the exhibition, according to the official.
Also addressing the ceremony was Culture Minister Seyed Abbas Salehi who stressed the need for promoting the Quranic teachings and making progress in the field of Quranic theorization.
A rare Mus’haf (copy) of the Holy Quran attributed to Imam Ali (AS), the first Shia Imam, was also unveiled at the function.
The 26th Tehran International Quran Exhibition will run at the Mosalla until June 4.
The expo is annually organized by the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in the holy month of Ramadan.
It is aimed at promoting Quranic concepts and developing Quranic activities.
The exhibition showcases the latest Quranic achievements in Iran and other countries as well as a variety of products dedicated to the promotion of the Holy Book.
