Winners of Iraq Group Quran Contest Awarded

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Quranic team from Iraq’s Wasit province came first in the 4th group Quran competition in the Arab country.

 

According to Kafeel website, it beat the team from Najaf province in the final round held on Thursday, May 31.

Meanwhile the teams from Diwaniyah province and the Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) compete for the third prize and the latter won the third title.

The top team was awarded a flag of the Astan of Hazrat Abbas (AS) and Umrah (minor Hajj) pilgrimage packages.

The competition was held in the holy city of Karbala for two weeks, starting on May 17, which marked the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

A total of 16 teams from different parts of the Arab country competed for the top prize.

Each team comprised a Qari, a Quran memorizer and one familiar with Tafseer (interpretation) of the Holy Quran.

The Center for Educating Qaris and Quran Memorizers, affiliated with the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS) in Karbala organizers the event annually.
