TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Philippines’ Catholic bishops appreciated Iran’s move to hold a calligraphy exhibition in Manilla during a meeting of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

In a message, CBCP President Romulo G. Valles wrote:

“The Philippines Bishops are glad that the Iranian people, through the Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Manila, are setting up a calligraphy exhibition of interreligious dialogue on the occasion of the 117th Plenary Assembly of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

“We are most grateful that on this same occasion, a calligraphy gift-giving is being initiated by the Iranian embassy to the CBCP with the presence of the artist calligrapher, Dr Tandis Taghavi, herself.

“We are hopeful that this gorgeous gesture of the Iranian people will promote interfaith dialogue towards understanding and peace with our Muslim brothers and sisters, particularly the believers of Shia Islam.”

The exhibition is planned to be mounted by the Iranian Cultural Center in Manila on the coming days.

During the expo, a calligraphy work featuring verse 45 of Surah Al-e Omran- “(And remember) when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (unto Allah)- will be gifted to Archbishop of Manila Luis Antonio Gokim Tagle.”
