According to Qaaf news agency, the Dar-ol-Quran center of teh Astan of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala will organize the summer courses.
As many as 1500 school boys and 600 school girls will take the courses, Ali Abud al-Taei, head of the Quranic education department of the center said.
He added that they feature Quran memorization, Quranic concepts, Tajweed principles and some Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) rules.
They will run for 45 days in morning and afternoon sessions, Taei said, noting that 91 teachers, 65 men and 26 women will instruct the courses.
Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
