Quran Competition for Afghan Citizens in Iran Postponed
Hassani, director general of “Muhammad Amin” Quran Center, told IQNA that the Quranic event was due to be held from September 6 to 11 at Hazrat Abdul Azim Hassani (AS) mausoleum in the city of Rey, south of Tehran.
But the organizers decided to change the time and place of the competition due to some problems, he added.
Hassani also said that 300 Quran activists who have registered for the competition so far have been informed of the decision.
“Quran, Book of Unity” is the motto of the competition, which will be organized in two sections for men and women.
The categories of the competition include Quran recitation (Tahqiq and Tarteel), memorization of the Quran at different levels, and Tafseer (Quran interpretation).
Iran has hosted Afghan refugees since the late 1970s following the occupation of their country by the Soviet Union troops. Although many of those refugees have returned to their country voluntarily, there are still hundreds of thousands of Afghans in Iran.
