Tajweed Conference Planned in Russia

TEHRAN (IQNA) –  The second edition of a national conference on the science of Tajweed in Russia is planned to be held in the southwestern city of Saratov on October 28.

 

The Muslims Religious Affairs Department in southwest Russia is organizing the event in cooperation with Zayd ibn Sabet Quranic center in Saratov.

Titled “Science of Tajweed of the Quran in the Russian Federation: History, Realities and Perspective,” the conference aims to promote the teaching of Quranic sciences in the country.

Quran experts and researchers from different parts of Russia, including the cities of Moscow, Ufa, Saratov, and Perm will attend the scholarly event to discuss the principles of Tajweed, history of the Quranic field in Russia and new methods of teaching Tajweed.

The first edition of the conference was held in Saratov in September 2017.

Tajweed is a science that has to do with the rules that govern pronunciation when someone is reciting the Quran.

It covers the guidelines on how Arabic alphabets should be pronounced, places to pause, stop or keep going during recitation, when to elongate the pronunciation of an alphabet, etc. It covers the characteristics of Arabic alphabets and how they interact with each other such that they can take different forms.

Russia is an Orthodox Christian-majority country in Eastern Europe.

There are around 25 million Muslims in Russia today, a rise of 40 per cent since 1989.

By 2020, with the continued growth rate, Muslims will account for one-fifth of the entire population.
