Sheikh Suliti Kabuka died in his hometown of Mitina at the age of 105.
He was a Mufassir (Quran interpreter) and a Shia figure who made efforts to enhance unity among Shia and Sunni Muslims in the country.
Iranian Cultural Attaché in Uganda Mohammad Reza Qezelsofla attended the funeral of the Quranic figure and expressed condolences to the government and nation of Uganda and the family of the deceased over the loss.
Also present were representatives of Islamic organizations, religious scholars, Muslim and Christian figures and a number of government officials.
Uganda is a country in East Africa with a Muslim population of 4.5 million (16 percent of the total population).
