Sudan Conference to Discuss Development of Quranic Schools’ Activities

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The government of Sudan plans to organize a conference to discuss ways for developing and improving the programs of Quranic schools in the country, an official said.

 

Widad Yacoub, Sudan’s minister of social security, said there are more than 2380 Quranic schools, named “Khalawat” in the country.

He added that some 300,000 students study at the schools, the daily Sudan Times reported.

According to the official, the large number of students necessitates more efforts and better programs in running the schools.

That is why, he said, a conference is planned to be held with the participation of teachers to improve the programs held in the schools.

Sudan is a country in northern Africa. Over 97 percent of its population is Muslim.

Quranic activities are prevalent in Sudan and its people are very keen on learning the Quran.

Many people in the country know the entire Quran by heart.
