A total of 25 participants competed in the morning and afternoon sessions Tuesday.
The opening ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Mosque Affairs Officer at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Abdul Malik bin Haji Jumat.
This year will see 56 participating in the semi-finals. Of that figure, 26 were selected through the Al-Quran Reading Competition (District Level), while the remaining 30 were participants of last year’s Al-Quran Reading Competition (National Adult) semi-final.
The names of the winners of the semi-final will be announced on January 10 at the ICC.
The competition aims to encourage Qari and Qariah (male and female Quran reciters) to improve their reading of the Quran and to promote public interest in learning the proper techniques of Quran reading.
The competition is one of the annual projects of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
