TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) on Wednesday will hold a news conference at its Maryland office to announce a major First Amendment legal challenge to that state's "No Boycott of Israel" or "anti-BDS" law enacted in October 2017.

The plaintiff in the lawsuit, as well as CAIR attorneys and CAIR Maryland outreach staff, will be available for comment at the news conference.

Maryland's anti-BDS executive order is one of 26 similar measures enacted in states across the country. In Congress, the symbolically-important first bill of the Senate, S.1, is a measure aimed at inoculating state level anti-BDS measures from legal challenge.

CAIR distributed an action alert on Tuesday encouraged Americans to voice their concerns about the unconstitutional Senate bill.

Last month, CAIR filed a motion on behalf of a Texas speech pathologist who was fired for refusing to sign a statement certifying that she does not, and will not, boycott Israel or Israeli settlements.

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
