Iraq Begins Operation to Cleanse Mosul Suburbs of Terrorists

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iraqi security forces have launched an operation to cleanse villages and areas south of the city of Mosul of terrorists, a source said.

According to the security source, the operation began on Sunday, al-Sumaria news website reported.

He added that the security operation came after reports were received about activities by terrorists in the area.

In other news, Iraq’s military announced that two arms depots have been discovered in al-Busif and al-Faruq areas of Mosul.

Mosul was liberated in 2017 in a major military campaign launched by the Iraqi Army and the Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi).

It had been under the control of the Daesh terrorist group since the summer of 2014.
