-- The new museum of Shahcheragh holy shrine in the city of Shiraz is to open on the anniversary of the glorious victory of Islamic Revolution.
The new museum will showcase precious Quranic manuscripts written in Nastaligh, Sols and Naskh scripts.
Mohammad Hassan Dastgheyb, manager of the public relations of the Shahcheragh holy shrine said the plan for the development of the museum has approached its final stages.
“It is now ready to open in the anniversary of the victory of Islamic Revolution," he told IQNA’s Fars branch.
"The funds covering the cost of the plan have been raised through charities and people’s donations," he added.
He said that every tourist entering a country wishes to get some information about the religion and culture of that country and visit its cultural, historical and religious attractions. “Museums are the best places where such information can be found.”
Pointing to the features of the museum, he said, "Having unique features of its own, the museum is a religious and cultural site covering an area of 1500 square meters. There is a beautiful hall reflecting the Islamic and traditional architecture and ornamented with modern styles of woodcarving (Monabbat). There are modern and pretty cases for keeping antique objects equipped with electronic alarms and cameras.
"One of the important characteristics of this unique museum is the variety of works, some even dating back to the period before Christ as well as works belonging to the Islamic Era and the contemporary period. There are also books and Quranic manuscripts in Nastaligh, Sols and Naskh scripts ornamented with enamel and Tazhib."
He went on to say that the annual number of visitors has been growing, to 400,000, expressing hope that it would soon hit 1 million.
