Late Egyptian Qari Al-Hussary to Be Commemorated

IQNA – The ‘Egypt Holy Quran’ satellite channel is airing a special program on the occasion of the birthday of late Egyptian qari Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary.

The channel will air the program today, September 17, 2025, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the legendary qari, Aldawlanews reported.

The network announced that the program will include two complete parts of Sheikh al-Hussary’s Quran recitations, one of which will be broadcast at 11:09 a.m. local time and will include the 30th Juz (part) of the Quran from the beginning of Surah An-Naba to the end of Surah An-Nas.

Also, recitation of the tenth Juz of the Quran with the voice of this late Egyptian reciter will be broadcast on the network at 12:26 midnight local time, which will include verse 41 of Surah Al-Anfal to verse 92 of Surah At-Tawbah.

Born on September 17, 1917, al-Hussary was among the most prominent Quran reciters in Egypt.

He is considered one of the four great reciters of the contemporary era, along with Abdul Basit, Menshawi, and Mustafa Ismail, due to his influence on the Islamic world.

He committed the entire Quran to memory by age 8 and started reciting at public gatherings by age 12.

He was the first Qari to release his Tarteel recitation of the entire Quran in cassettes.
