Launch of National Association of Muslim Police at the British Transport Police

The MCB secretary general, Dr Abdul Bari, attended the launch of the National Association of Muslim Police (NAMP) at the British Transport Police headquarters in London.
--NAMP represents Muslim police officers and staff through out the UK and provides a national voice for existing Associations of Muslim Police organisations.
The organisation’s key objectives are:
Identify the safety and security needs of Muslim police officers and staff in the UK.
Support recruitment, retention and progression within the service of Muslim officers and staff.
Build trust and confidence to enhance the quality of service to Muslim communities.
Positively encourage the recognition and value Muslim officers and staff bring to the Police service
Assist in policy development with relation to policing policies and including but not limited to internal employment, anti terrorism and community cohesion.
Dr Abdul Bari said at the launch, ‘"Muslims in the police service are essential and provide a valuable service to all sections of the community."
The organisation elected Superintendent Dal Babu as chair and PC Zaheer Ahmad as vice chair. The launch was also attended by the Chief Constable of Cheshire Constabulary Peter Fahy and Commander Richard Gargini from the National Community Tension Team.
