Egypt Featured Various Ramadan TV Programs
Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan focus more on fasting, praying and remembering God. Howerver, there are different traditions among the various types of Muslims also.
In Egypt for example, its a time when Television programs flourishes. And this year, Egypt alone has produced over 70 Soap Operas in addition to tens of talk shows and ADs.
The topics covered in this year’s programing was not far from reality. Themes of revolution and change were widely present as well as topics such as the rise of political Islam and sectarian issues were covered.
But while many applauded the bold programming for addressing the social issues that were being handled by society at large, others criticized the programming saying that the language and the choice of topics were inappropriate crossing the lines for the conservative traditions of the Muslim world.
Islamic programing is also emphasized during this holy month. This year the most popular TV Soap is Omar, depicting the life of the second caliph in the early times of Islam.
