TEHRAN (IQNA) – The family and fans of late Egyptian qari Abul Ainain Shuaisha (1922-2011) have asked authorities to name a street or square after him.

Muhammad Awad Al-Yamani, the grandson of the late qari, made the request on the occasion of the 11th anniversary of Shuaisha’s death.

He asked authorities to name one of the main squares in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate, or one of the streets in his hometown of Bella, after the qari.

Born in 1922 in Bella, Kafr El-Sheikh governorate, Shuaisha was the only qari of his time to recite the Quran using the style of Muhammad Rifat.

He committed the entire Quran to his memory at seven and started reciting the Quran on the radio at the age of 17. He was the youngest qari on the radio at the time.

He passed away on June 23, 2011, at the age of 88.
