TEHRAN (IQNA) – There are countless signs in the universe, from man’s body to the farthest stars, to know God. But merely observing them is not enough.

Universe

Verse 5 of Surah Yunus says, “It is God who has made the sun radiant and the moon luminous and has appointed for the moon certain phases so that you may compute the number of years and other reckonings. God has created them for a genuine purpose. He explains the evidence (of His existence) to the people of knowledge.”

God’s creation of the universe has purpose, wisdom and secrets that not all human beings can comprehend. Those who are thirsty for the truth, consider even the tiniest particles in the universe as interesting and complex. But thirst for knowledge alone is not enough either.

“The alternation of the day and night and all that God has created in the heavens and earth are evidence (of the existence of God) for the pious people.” (Surah Yunus, verse 6)

Understanding the secrets and mysteries of the world of creation requires Taqwa (God-fearing) and self-control. One may spend years doing research about the sun, the moon, and stars and gain a lot of information about them, and even teach them to others, without reaching the truth about them. Reaching the truth about what is in the universe means understanding them with all their amazing features as a bridge to reaching and knowing the Creator.

It is one’s pure heart that encourages and enables him to search for the truth and gain awareness about the world and its Creator.

That is why not all human beings can reach such an awareness as many of them only observe the incredible phenomena in the universe indifferently.

These people have no profound view of life and the universe and are ignorant of so many amazing and marvelous things because they are too preoccupied with worldly affairs. The Quran says about these people:

“Those who do not have hope of receiving Our mercy in the life hereafter, those who are pleased and satisfied with the worldly life and who pay no attention to Our revelations”. (Surah Yunus, verse 7)
