TEHRAN (IQNA) – In order to become Mowahed (monotheist), one should empty the heart from everything but God and see the truth and signs of God everywhere.

Hojat-ol-Islam Kavus Rouhiberandaq

This is according to Hojat-ol-Islam Kavus Rouhiberandaq, speaking about the teachings of Sahifeh Sajjadiyeh.

Sahifeh Sajjadiyeh is a collection of 54 supplications of Imam Sajjad (AS), the fourth Shia Imam.

It is known as the Zabur of Al-e Muhammad (AS) and contains themes varying from theology to ethics, monotheism, prayers and the status of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

Hojat-ol-Islam Rouhiberandaq said the third prayer of Sahifeh Sajjadiyeh is about angels. Angels are spiritual beings and God’s intermediaries for control of material and spiritual affairs.

The cleric added:

Imam Sajjad (AS) says in this prayer, “(Angels are) the descenders with the drops of rain when they fall.” So every drop of rain that comes down to earth descends by the angels and it is the angels who decide where each drop falls and what its size is.

We should not think of angels as strange beings that have wings and so on. Angels are spiritual beings and God’s intermediaries for control of material and spiritual affairs. Some may sometimes see their likeness but not their shape and embodiment. The Quran has referred to his issue in Surah Maryam. So angels are God’s intermediaries.

Imam Sajjad (AS) then says (in the third prayer of Sahifeh Sajjadiyeh): “(Angels are) the watchers over the treasuries of the winds.” Every wind that blows anywhere in the world blows by the order of God via angels.

So in order to become a Mowahed, we should not be attached to causes. We must see the truth everywhere and put our trust in God. This is the meaning of Tawakkul and a part of Tawheed.

Imam Sajjad (AS) then says: “(Angels are) those charged with the mountains lest they disappear”. It means that God keeps mountains in place via angels. Some say it is gravity that keeps the mountains. We do not reject this but the point is that what is behind gravity are angels. So things are done by God through angels.
