Translation of Quran into Turkish with a Focus on Ahl-ul-Bayt’s Hadiths
He was born into a religious family in Yasi Agha Village, Turkey’s eastern province of Agri, in 1962. He moved to the holy city of Najaf, Iraq, at the age of 9 and entered the city’s prestigious Islamic Seminary, studying Arabic literature there.
Three years later, he moved to the holy city of Qom in Iran and continued his studies in the fields of Fiqh, Usul and Islamic philosophy at the Islamic Seminary of Qom.
He then began translating religious books from Arabic and Persian into Turkish.
Hojat-ol-Islam Torabi translated the Quran into Turkish from 2004 to 2009. The distinguishing feature of his rendering is that from among different meanings of the verses, he has chosen the meaning that is based on the Hadiths narrated from Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
He has also benefited from Shia Quran interpretations like Safi, Shibr and Majma al-Bayan exegeses in his rendering.
Along with this translation, Hojat-ol-Islam Torabi wrote a book titled “Quran from Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) Viewpoint” in which he discussed subjects like the relation between Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) and the Quran, teaching and learning the Quran, reading the Quran, miracles of the Quran, revelation and collection of the Quran’s verses, comprehensiveness of the Quran and the Holy Book being safe from any distortion.
In this book, he has tried to collect and present in a new way Shia Muslims’ views about Quranic sciences based on Ahl-ul-Bayt’s (AS) Hadiths.
Hojat-ol-Islam Torabi did the Quran translation into Turkish under the supervision of the Tarjoman-e Vahy (translation of revelation) Cultural Institute. It was published by the Istanbul-based Kawthar Publications in 2009.
