That is why in the Quran, as well as in the Persian literature and the world literature there are many references to this issue.
God says in the Holy Quran:
“Every soul shall taste death. You shall be paid your wages in full on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is removed from Hell and is admitted to Paradise shall prosper, for the worldly life is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion.” (Verse 185 of Surah Al Imran)
Although these divine words talk about death and the fact that everyone will experience it, they also offer glad tidings as they denote that one is alive at the time of death to taste it.
They disprove remarks by one of ancient Greek thinkers who said, “I and death shall never meet one another because as long as I exist, there is no death and when death comes, I won’t be there to meet anyone.”

According to the divine words in the above-mentioned verse, we will meet death and taste this wondrous phenomenon, while we continue to exist. Death does not mean an end to our existence but just a new experience.
The phrase “every soul shall taste death” also comes in Verse 57 of Surah Al-Ankabut. In this verse, God says: “Every soul shall taste death, and to Us you shall be returned.”
