IQNA – Two people were killed and several others injured when an Israeli warplane bombed a tent where a displaced family was sheltering in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, Gaza, on Sunday night.

The family had fled from their home in Gaza City due to the ongoing Israeli war that has lasted for more than 100 days. They were among the thousands of Palestinians who have sought refuge in makeshift camps or public buildings across the besieged enclave, Al Jazeera reported.

According to eyewitnesses and medical sources, the air strike hit the tent around midnight, killing two members of the family and wounding others, some critically. The injured were rushed to the Nasser hospital, which has been overwhelmed by the influx of casualties.

The attack on the tent was one of the many incidents of violence that occurred in Khan Younis and other parts of Gaza overnight and into the early hours of Monday.

Israeli forces intensified their operations in the eastern and southern parts of Khan Younis, where they faced resistance from Palestinian fighters. The clashes resulted in many injuries, mostly among civilians, as Israeli tanks and artillery shelled residential areas.

In the central Gaza Strip, Israeli jets and drones targeted al-Thalatheni Street, a main road that connects several towns and refugee camps. At least 22 people were killed and dozens more injured in the strikes, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry also reported that Israeli air strikes hit homes in the Maghazi and Bureij refugee camps and the city of Deir el-Balah, killing at least 33 people and injuring many others.

The latest attacks have raised the death toll in Gaza to 24,167, according to the Ministry of Health, which is equivalent to 1.4 percent of the population.

The ministry said that the number of children killed in the Israeli offensive has reached 10,413, which is 1.1 percent of the child population.

At least 61,000 people are also injured in the besieged Palestinian territory, with many struggling to find healthcare or medicine to treat their wounds. More than 8,000 people are still missing, presumed buried in the rubble of destroyed buildings.

The regime launched the devastating military campaign against Gaza on October 7 after Hamas-led Palestinian resistance fighters carried out a surprise operation on occupied territories.
