Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi, foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their accompanying delegation lost their lives after the helicopter carrying them crashed in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan due to harsh weather conditions on May 19, 2024.
Their bodies were found one day later after an extensive night-long search operation.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a condolence message, announcing five days of mourning and praising the characteristics of Raisi and other officials who lost their lives in the crash.
