Hajj 2024: Tawaf of Visually Impaired Pilgrims

IQNA – In a moving display of faith, two visually impaired pilgrims were observed performing the Tawaf on the first floor of Masjid al-Haram, Islam’s holiest mosque that houses the Ka’aba.

With canes in hand, they navigated the circumambulation with a sense of inner vision, embodying the essence of pilgrimage beyond the physical act of seeing.

Tawaf, the act of walking around the Kaaba seven times in a counterclockwise direction, is a central rite of Islamic pilgrimage and a profound expression of devotion.

The act of worship by the visually impaired reminds Muslims that a true pilgrimage engages more than just the eyes.

This sentiment was vividly illustrated by the two pilgrims, whose physical sight may be limited, but whose spiritual perception is keenly attuned to the divine presence.

Their participation also serves as a powerful testament to the inclusive nature of Islamic worship at Masjid al-Haram.
