It mainly features street and building sets from the Pahlavi era, designed for movies and TV series set in old Tehran.
Though it’s officially renamed "Iran Cinema and Television Town," it's still widely known as Ghazali.
Hatami built it to film the Hezar Dastan TV series, with the help of Italian designers. Construction began in 1980 and was completed in 1983. It officially opened in 1994 and has expanded over time.
The town has three main sections:
1. Pre-Islamic era sets, covering an area of 15,000 square meters, for productions like Saint Mary
2. Post-Islamic era sets, covering an area of 35,000 square meters, for series like Imam Ali (AS) and Velayat-e Eshgh
3. Contemporary era sets, covering an area of 62,000 square meters, for production of movies related to the past century
Ghazali Cinema Town includes iconic sets such as Lalehzar Street and other replicas of historical Tehran streets, making it a time travel experience for visitors.
This cinema town is vital for preserving Iran's cinematic history and continues to play a central role in film and TV production.
