The Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) concluded its 19th conference in Jakarta with the release of the “Jakarta Declaration,” reaffirming its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and calling for intensified international pressure on the occupation regime, including sanctions and isolation in global forums.
The declaration, adopted by parliamentary delegations from member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), emphasized the “centrality of the Cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif to the entire Muslim society,” reiterating that East al-Quds remains an integral part of the 1967 occupied Palestinian territories and the rightful capital of a future Palestinian state.
Delegates expressed alarm over the continuation of Israeli onslaught in Gaza where at least 53,119 people, mostly women and children, have been killed since the start of the Israeli war in October 2023.

The statement cited the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) provisional order issued on January 26, 2024, and the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrants against Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The declaration condemned “indiscriminate and disproportionate” attacks that have persisted “unabated.”
The PUIC called for “full cessation of the ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestine” and the “immediate release of Palestinian prisoners unlawfully and arbitrary imprisoned by Israel, in particular women and children.”

It also rejected any moves by Israel to annex parts of Gaza under the pretext of captive retrieval or security concerns, and categorically opposed the displacement of Palestinians.
In a direct appeal to the international community, the PUIC encouraged governments to impose sanctions on Israel, “observe the two advisory opinions of the International Court of Justice,” and support ongoing investigations by the ICC. It also urged continued humanitarian aid to Palestinians through the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
