IQNA – The annual Hajj pilgrimage is described in the Quran as teh flag of Islam, an Iranian cleric said.

Iranian cleric Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Reza Akrami

Speaking to IQNA, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Reza Akrami said Hajj should be known as a university, an exhibition, training, research center and workshop.

The Quran has a chapter called Surah Hajj, and it introduces Hajj as the flag of Islam, that is, with an Abrahamic call that rises from the depths of his soul, the world is called to perform Hajj.

He emphasized that the Hajj ceremony holds the greatest benefits for the Islamic community and even humanity as a whole.

“Pilgrims, dressed in ihram garments, perform ablution, circumambulation, and the Sa’i between Safa and Marwah together as they carry out the rituals. From this perspective, Hajj is a practice of self-purification, community-building, fostering unity, and strengthening the bonds within the Islamic Ummah.”

Referring to Verse 28 of Surah Hajj, “That they may witness advantages for them…,” he said it is a call for the nations and people of the world to come together for the Hajj to see their own interests, unity, rapport, connection, solidarity and spirituality.

These benefits are not merely for this world, but they are also spiritual and for the next world, he stated.

Asked how much of the capacity of the Hajj could be used to neutralize the attempts to make people forget the issue Palestine forget and the crimes of the Zionist regime, Hojat-ol-Islam Akrami said that after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA) proposed a ceremony of (bar’aat min-al-mushrikeen (disavowal of disbelievers) for the Hajj, to really determine Muslims’ friendship and enmity (with friends of God and enemies of God).

The ceremony of disavowal of disbelievers is in Hajj so that the oppressor knows that he is hated and the oppressed knows that he is always supported, and this comes in the form of a slogan, consciousness and action so that we can really understand and act on Hajj, he went on to say.
