Imam Khomeini’s Thought Was Based on Quran: Lebanese Scholar

IQNA – The final destination for Imam Khomeini was God, the Almighty, his thought was based on the Quran and his method was based on Islam, a Lebanese scholar said.

 

Linda Taboush, a Lebanese university lecturer and analyst, made the remark in an address to the webinar “Great Imam Khomeini (RA): A Model of Change in Islamic World”, which was organized by the International Quran News Agency (IQNA) on Tuesday to mark the demise anniversary of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

She said Imam Khomeini perpetuated the Ashura uprising, led the greatest revolution of the era to victory and established the most powerful system of government in the modern era.

He was a great and pious person not a man of arms, domination and dictatorship, she stated.

“He had in his hands only the weapons of God-fearing, piety and honest words, and on this basis we, Lebanese, … were also raised and educated. In addition, Imam Khomeini had a great soul and a great personality, through which he was able to take over the leadership of the Islamic Republic at that time and free Iran from the yoke of colonial powers with the slogan of justice, development and freedom and save humanity from ignorance and error.”

Taboush also noted that Imam Khomeini was the first person who talked about the Israeli regime as a “cancerous tumor” and emphasized the need for the removal of this tumor.

The criterion for Imam Khomeini in his leadership was wisdom and awareness and thanks to this wise and divine leadership, the Islamic Awakening Movement was able to take shape with specific foundations, principles and characteristics in the far corners of the world to restrain the hegemony and domination of America and Zionism, and to destroy racist movements both in Iran and in the axis of resistance, she went on to say.

The axis of resistance, whose main pillar was the great martyr, Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, has remained strong and enduring thanks to the grace of God Almighty and thanks to the guidance of the Leader of the Revolution, Imam Khamenei, Taboush said.

Elsewhere in her remarks, she pointed out Imam Khomeini’s emphasis on the institutionalization of the concepts of pure Mohammedan Islam and the Quran, the strengthening of the concepts of Islamic unity and the concepts and basic subjects of Hajj.

Ayatollah Ruhollah Moussavi Khomeini, better known as Imam Khomeini, engineered Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, which led to the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran.

Born in 1902, he grew to become the iconic leader of the Iranian nation’s struggle in the 1970s against the centuries-old monarchical tyranny.

Imam Khomeini passed away on June 3, 1989, at the age of 87.
