IQNA – One of the oldest home-based Muharram mourning rituals in Yazd, central Iran, is the morning Rozeh Khani at the Rismani family home, which is nearly 100 years old.

It is held from sunrise to 10 AM during the first ten days of Muharram.

The Rismani house has been dedicated to Muharram mourning rituals by a Yazd merchant named Rismani, and after him, by his son Hajj Mirza Mahdi, and now by the children of Hajj Mirza Mahdi.

Rozeh Khani or Rawda khwani is the Shia Iranian Muslim ritual of mourning held in commepoiration of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions martyred in the 680 AD Battle of Karbala.
