Entitled “The Role of the Media in Supporting Palestine”, it was held in the Egyptian city of El Alamein on Tuesday.

Addressing the meeting, Amr Al-Laithi, the head of the OIC Broadcasting Union, considered the media an important line of defense against distortion and a tool for raising global awareness.

The Palestinian issue has been the core of the OIC Broadcasting Union’s mission from the beginning, he stated.

He noted that the union, with 57 Islamic radio and television channels as members, is a single platform for raising issues of the Muslim Ummah, especially Palestine.

Sami Sharif, Secretary General of Islamic Universities Association, also delivered a speech, emphasizing the need to train a new generation of young journalists who are proficient in digital tools and capable of conveying the issues of the Muslim Ummah and Palestine.

The meeting focused on the importance of creating an Arab-Islamic media network for coordinated field coverage, exposing Israeli aggression, and strengthening the Palestinian narrative globally.

It also highlighted the role of national, Arab, and digital media in strengthening the message of support for Palestine, and the need to update Arab media discourse to have a greater impact on international public opinion.
