Participants who scored high marks received their prizes and certificates at the event.
The organizers also honored the ‘Mushaf Qatar’ calligrapher Obeida Mohamed Saleh al-Banki on the occasion. A memento was presented to him by Mansoor al-Yami, manager of the Minors’ Affairs department at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
The awards and certificates were distributed by Shaikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation director general Ayed al-Qahtani, Qatar Charity’s public relations and human resources manager Khalid Fakhroo, Fanar cultural section head Dr Ali Idris, Abdul Raheem Kunnummal, Shamsuddeen Olakara and G P Kunhalikkutty.
The dignitaries praised the efforts of QIIC in making Quran learning popular and affordable to the public.
Islamic scholar P M A Gafoor was the keynote speaker. He spoke on the forthcoming conference ‘Islam for Peace – Here and Hereafter’. K N Sulaiman Madani presided over the function. Abdul Latheef Nallalam welcomed the gathering, and Ali Chalikkara proposed a vote of thanks.
