According to IQNA’s ICRO chapter, Dr Mohammad Baqer Khorramshad was speaking in a conference of Iran’s diplomatic representatives abroad.
Dubbed “Islamic Awakening and General Diplomacy”, the conference was also attended by head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, Minister of Foreign Affairs, chancellor of Al-Mustafa International University and Iranian ambassadors.
Dr Khorramshad described general diplomacy as relations with people of other countries based on national interests so as to influence the public opinion of the target countries, and said the media are among its tools.
He said in the field of general diplomacy, the government gets considerable help from non-governmental and private sectors as well as grass-roots institutions. “The cyberspace also plays a major part in improving the effects of general diplomacy.”
He also said that general diplomacy is the driving engine of Islamic awakening.
