IQNA – The Yemeni Ansarullah movement issued a statement strongly condemning the US military attack on Venezuela as a criminal act.

The US launched a military attack on Venezuela on January 3, 2026.

It called the aggression a clear and criminal act of aggression against the people of Venezuela, and declared it a clear violation of Venezuela's national sovereignty and international laws and customs, Al-Masirah reported.

The statement said the recent US actions, including the military attack, air blockade, and the confiscation and looting of Venezuelan oil ships, indicate the severity of US violence and the scale of US crimes, and are another example of Washington’s destructive policies against nations and their resources.

Ansarullah emphasized that Washington’s behavior against Venezuela once again proves that the US is the source of evil, terrorism and corruption in the world and that it uses the logic of force in its foreign policy to achieve its sinister goals and plans.

The movement also announced its support for Venezuela and its president, Nicolás Maduro, who refused to surrender to US domination and defended the rights of the Palestinian people together with its people, and emphasized Venezuela’s right to defend its sovereignty, people and resources against US aggression.

The statement called on the international community to act as quickly as possible to stop this US aggression and to respect the principles and international laws that protect the sovereignty of nations and the interests of the people.

US President Donald Trump announced on social media that the United States carried out a “large scale military strike” against Venezuela and apprehended its leader.

Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social platform early on Saturday, shortly after loud explosions were reported in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, indicating a significant escalation against the Latin American nation.

Trump said that Maduro’s wife was also captured during the offensive and both were “flown out of the country.”

“This operation was done in conjunction with US Law Enforcement,” Trump added.

The Venezuelan government has yet to issue a statement in response to Trump’s latest claim. Earlier, it was reported that Maduro declared a national state of emergency in response to the attack.

Venezuelan authorities reported that the assaults took place in Caracas on Saturday, in addition to the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira.

The officials further said that Washington orchestrated the attack in a bid to seize Venezuela's oil and mineral assets, pledging that such attempts “will not succeed.”

The US president has consistently issued threats regarding ground strikes against drug cartels operating in the Latin American region, particularly in Venezuela.

During an interview on Thursday, Maduro expressed that Venezuela was willing to engage in negotiations with the US to address drug trafficking.

In the interview, Maduro also stated that the United States is seeking to overthrow his government and seize control of Venezuela's extensive oil reserves by means of prolonged sanctions and a military pressure campaign orchestrated by Washington.
