TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quranic circle was organized here in Tehran on Friday in commemoration of senior cleric Ayatollah Hassan Hassanzadeh Amoli.

The Central Dar-ol-Quran of Tehran Municipality’s District 7 held the Quranic event at Seyed Sajjad Mosque.

Sobhan Qari and Seyed Amir Abbas Sadat Mazloum recited verses from the Quran at the program.

It also included a speech by Hojat-ol-Islam Barzegar and recitation of elegies by Amir Ahmad Mohammadi.

Ayatollah Hassanzadeh Amoli, a prominent Iranian Shia cleric, theologian and scholar in Islamic philosophy, died last week at the age of 92.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in a message of condolence described him as a learned, multidimensional religious scholar, saying he was among the unique and distinguished figures whose limited number in any era delight the eyes and hearts of those who know them and benefit from these scholars’ knowledge, insight, reason, and soul.

“The writings and works of this honorable scholar will be a great source for the lovers of knowledge and intricate meanings, God willing. I offer my condolences to all his friends, students, and admirers, especially to the faithful believers and revolutionary people of the city of Amol and also to the enthusiastic youth who were attracted by his revolutionary stances and lofty manners. I ask God to bestow His forgiveness and mercy on him and raise his status,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.
