Legendary Egyptian Qari’s Son Khaled Abdul Basit Dies

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Khaled Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, a son of late Egyptian qari Abdul Basit Abdul Samad died on Monday.

He was suffering from Diabetes for a longtime and got critically ill in recent weeks.

Khaled will be laid to rest in a family cemetery in al-Basatin region, Youm7 website reported.

A memorial service will be held for him at Al-Hamidiya al-Shazliya Mosque in Giza on Tuesday, which is expected to be attended by senior Quran reciters of the country.

In a message on Monday, Egypt’s Quran Radio offered condolences to the Abdul Basit family and prayed for divine mercy for Khaled.

Egypt’s Association of Quran reciters and Memorizers also issued a message of condolences over the death of Abdul Basit’s sons.

Abdul Basit Abdul Samad is known in the Muslim world as one of the greatest Quran reciters ever.

Listening to his inspiring recitations of the Quran, many non-Muslims are said to have embraced Islam,

He also died of diabetes and liver disease in November 1988.
