The Holy Quran portrays this educational method in the story of Prophet Moses (AS).
Mankind is intrinsically seeking role models and that is why introducing role models is one of the most effective and useful methods for promoting moral virtues that are emphasized by religious leaders.
People try to follow the role model and become like him in deeds and in behaviors.
In the role model method of education, people have someone whom they can directly follow as an example. That is why it is one of the most effective educational methods.
This method is so important and so effective that God, the Almighty, uses it in the Quran and in different verses introduces His messengers as role models for humans.
One example is Verse 21 of Surah Al-Ahzab in which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is introduced as a good role model: “The Messenger of God is certainly a good example for those of you who have hope in God and in the Day of Judgment and who remember God very often.”
The Quran also introduces Moses (AS) and his brother Aaron as good role models:
“Peace be with Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward the righteous ones. They were two of Our believing servants.” (Verses 120-122 of Surah As-Safat)
In these verses, Moses and Aaron are mentioned as guides and educators for Bani Isra’il. They also describe the two as “righteous” and “believing”. This means that they are introduced as role models for the righteous people.
