Sweden: Extremist Desecrates Quran While Waving Israeli Flag
An Iraqi refugee in Sweden identified as Salwan Momika desecrated the Holy Quran while waving and kissing the Israeli flag on Saturday. He was being protected by the Swedish police while carrying out the provocative act in Stockholm.
His support for the Israeli regime comes months after an Iranian intelligence report said that he was linked to Mossad.
Iran’s Intelligence Ministry released a report in June 2023, saying that Momika was hired by Mossad in 2019 and was “accepted and welcomed by the Zionists” at the time despite having a criminal record in Iraq.
The report said Momika was tasked with detracting public attention away from the regime’s atrocities in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin and the Palestinian resistance at that time through staging Quran desecration events across Sweden.
The extremist element has on numerous occasions desecrated the Holy Quran in various Swedish cities while being protected by Swedish police.
Muslim nations and organizations have repeatedly urged Sweden to prevent the hate crime that insults the feelings of some two billion Muslims across the world. Stockholm slammed the blasphemous acts but claimed it could not do much to prevent it because of its laws on the so-called freedom of expression.
Momika’s latest show of solidarity with the Israeli regime comes as more than 4,300 people, mostly women and children, have been killed by the regime’s air raids on the Gaza Strip in the past three weeks. More than 1.1 million people have also been displaced and international organizations such as the UN have described the situation as a “humanitarian crisis.”
