LONDON (IQNA) – A rise in hate crimes across the UK following the Gaza crisis is worrying Muslims in the country, including in Lincoln, a city in Lincolnshire, England.

Leaders from the Lincoln Central Mosque & Cultural Centre have reached out to Lincolnshire Police to convey their alarm about the surge in hate crimes targeting Muslims in the aftermath of the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation.

The operation was carried out by the Islamic resistance movement Hamas on Saturday, October 7 and prompted the Israeli regime to launch a massacre of the people of Gaza.

Gaza's health ministry says the death toll has risen to over 9,200 since the Isralei airstrikes began, with women and children constituting approximately two-thirds of the fatalities.

London has experienced a marked rise in Islamophobic hate crimes, reflecting a concern that extends nationwide.

Dr Tanweer Ahmed, Chairman of the Islamic Association which owns and runs the mosque, has reported a noticeable uptick in hate crimes, including instances of bullying.

He said: "My community is seriously worried because we will shortly be starting evening school and a number of parents have raised their concerns with me."

Dr Ahmed is scheduled to discuss these pressing concerns with members of Lincolnshire Police in the coming weeks.

He added: "We are trying to be vigilant, but we have also raised it with the police."

As for the Israeli war o Gaza, he said, "If you look at the statistics, over 9,000 people have died in Palestine. Out of this, just under 4,000 are children. Around 2,500 are women. Civilians have died. How can the world justify this? That is where our community is feeling suffering.

"Killing or bombing refugee camps or hospitals is not a war against Hamas, it's ethnic cleansing."

This Saturday, Lincoln Friends of Palestine are set to lead a demonstration on Lincoln High Street at 2pm, advocating for an end to the conflict.
