Qadr Night is a night of blessings. As stated in the second and third verses of Surah Ad-Dukhan, God sent down the books of wisdom on this blessed night: “I swear by the Book that makes manifest. Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning.”
Just as the Quran is filled with goodness that extends to those who refer to it, the Night of Destiny is similarly filled with goodness. Anyone who appreciates this night and strives to live it will receive abundant blessings. The Holy Quran refers to this night as being better than a thousand months (Surah Qadr, verse 3).
This night is also significant as it is the night when the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Commentators believe that the Quran was revealed all at once on this night. Following this, the Holy Quran was revealed gradually over a period of 23 years.

The Night of Destiny is also a night of decree, where the fate of individuals and worldly affairs are determined. On this night, "angels and the Spirit" descend to earth to reveal the destinies of the world for the upcoming year (Surah Qadr, verse 4). As stated in the fourth verse of Surah Ad-Dukhan, all matters are detailed and specified according to God's wisdom on this night: “Therein every wise affair is made distinct.”
Lastly, this night is also known for the forgiveness of sins. It is narrated that during the month of Ramadan, devils are chained and the doors of heaven are opened for believers. The Prophet (PBUH) is quoted as saying: "Whoever observes the Night of Destiny, is a believer and believes in the Day of Judgment, all his sins will be forgiven."
