Mikaeil Baqeri, the director general of the Education Ministry’s Quran, Etrat and Prayer Department, made the remark Tuesday, August 19, on the sidelines of the 38th National Conference of Education Directors in Karaj.
Pointing out the country’s vast capacity in the field of Quranic education, he said that currently, 860 Dar-ol-Quran centers are operating in Iran.
“By the end of this summer, we anticipate that more than 250,000 students will have received Quranic education.”
These Quran learners are supervised by capable instructors at 10 educational levels and their education provides a suitable platform for the development of the Quranic culture in the country, he stated.
Referring to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s instructions regarding the national movement to train 10 million Quran memorizers, the official said the Ministry of Education is determined to prepare the ground for training 10 million Quran memorizers in the country within the next five years.
In this regard, the establishment of 1,200 official Quran schools has been put on the agenda and initial steps have been taken, he noted.

Baqeri also pointed to the 43rd edition of the Quran, Etrah, and Prayer competition that is held every year in four stages: school, regional, provincial, and national, saying that this year, a total of 2,500 students along with 320 Education Ministry staff have succeeded in reaching the national stage.
According to him, the strong presence of students in the competition indicates the interest of the new generation in divine knowledge, and this issue should be given serious attention as an opportunity to promote the religious culture of society.
