The error is in Verse 71 of Surah Al-Anfal and clearly changes the meaning of the verse, el-Balad website reported.
Officials of the Al-Azhar Islamic Center have not commented on the issue so far.
Al-Azhar is responsible for proofreading and giving permission for printing Qurans in Egypt.
In recent years, there has been much criticism of the situation regarding the printing and distribution of the Quran in Egypt.
Critics say the printing and distribution system is outdated and inconsistent with the historical position of Egypt in this field.
