IQNA – In preparation for the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Sadiq (AS), the custodians of the Imam Hussein (AS) shrine have adorned its courtyards and corridors with flowers.

Images were shared on the shrine's website showcasing the shrine’s readiness for the commemoration of these religious occasions.

The message states that banners have also been placed to mark the upcoming birth anniversary of the Prophet (PBUH).

The shrine is located in the city of Karbala, Iraq.

The 17th day of Rabi al-Awwal, which falls on September 21 this year, is believed by Shia Muslims to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), while Sunni Muslims regard the 12th day of the month (Thursday, September 16) as the birthday of the last prophet.

The interval between the two dates was declared the Islamic Unity Week by the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, in the 1980s.
