Karbala Shrine Pilgrims Attend Mourning Rituals for Imam Kadhim Martyrdom

IQNA – A mourning ceremony was held at the holy shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS) in Karbala, Iraq, ahead of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Kadhim (AS).

The Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine organized the event, which was attended by a large number of pilgrims, al-Kafeel reported. 

Senior cleric Sheikh Salah al-Aboudi delivered a speech in which he elaborated on the life and virtues of the seventh Imam (AS).

The reasons for the establishment of Imam Kadhim’s (AS) leadership, the difficult conditions during his imamate, the truths related to Imam Kadhim's (AS) imprisonment, and the lessons and insights derived from that period were among the topics he talked about.

Elsewhere in Iraq, the influx of pilgrims arriving in Kadhimiya, a northern neighborhood of Baghdad, to visit the holy mausoleum of Imam Kadhim (AS) on the anniversary of his martyrdom continues.

Special measures have been taken by government bodies to ensure the security of the pilgrims.  

Shia Muslims and others mourn the martyrdom of Imam Kadhim (AS) on January 26 this year.

The 7th Imam was poisoned and martyred on Rajab 25, 183 (September 5, 799 AD) in the prison of Baghdad.
