For example, a person’s awareness of divine attributes enables him to exhibit patience, courage, and dignity in his actions while pursuing the truth.
Some of a person’s insights into the universe and the Almighty God lead to a sense of disillusionment with those created and a tendency to turn toward the divine. In fact, this awareness guides individuals toward an existence upon which they can solely rely. “In Allah, let all who trust place their trust.” (Verse12 of Surah Ibrahim)
These beliefs lead individuals to pursue the path of righteousness and to step onto it.
As they enter this path, challenges arise, and the person who relies on God (has Tawakkul) responds to all of them with patience, dignity, courage, and piety.
For this reason, it can be said that the cognitive prerequisites connected to a person’s determination culminate in the practical requirements of Tawakkul.
In Surah At-Tawbah, the Almighty God first speaks of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) compassion and deep desire to guide the people.
“Indeed, there has come to you a Messenger from your own, he grieves for your suffering, and is anxious about you, and is gentle, merciful to the believers.” (Verse 128)
Then in the following verse, it is stated that no one should think that the efforts and compassion of that Prophet (PBUH) towards the people were due to a need for them. For if everyone were to turn away from him, God would still be with him.
God who preserves and manages the vast system of existence can also protect a human being under His grace: “(Muhammad), if they turn away from you, say, ‘God is Sufficient (support) for me. There is no God but He. In Him do I trust and He is the Owner of the Great Throne.” (Verse 129)

In Surah Al-Ahzab, Verse 48, we read, “Do not obey the unbelievers and the hypocrites, pay no attention to their hurt. Put your trust in Allah; Allah suffices as a Guardian.”
Disregarding the harassment and sabotage from disbelievers and hypocrites, resisting their demands, and not being discouraged by their actions require Tawakkul, for He is the best helper and protector. In fact, the practical essentials of this Tawakkul are patience, dignity, and the courage not to fear the outcome.
