Ayatollah Ali Reza Aarafi made the remark on Monday evening, noting that the seminary dates back to the 12th century and has made significant differences with other scientific centers in Iran and the region since the 2nd century AH.
He said the revival of the Islamic Seminary after the Islamic Revolution’s victory has led to tremendous advances.
At the conference marking the 100th anniversary of the re-establishment of the Islamic Seminary, messages of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and prominent sources of emulation will be presented, he further noted.
Such events highlight the importance of scientific and religious work, especially considering that there are currently more than 300 educational and research centers and institutes related to the Islamic Seminary of Qom, and include a wide community of students, researchers and professors, Ayatollah Aarafi stated.
He also stressed the status of Qom and said the city is known as the main center of Islamic science not only in Iran but also in the world, and the city is constantly interacting with more than a thousand scientific and religious centers around the world.
