Sanandaj to Host Iran Nat’l Quran Contest This Year

IQNA – The final round of the 48th edition of Iran’s National Holy Quran Competition will be held in the western city of Sanandaj, Kordestan Province, an official said.

Hamid Majidimehr, head of the Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization made the announcement at a meeting of the Quran Competitions Coordination Supreme Headquarters, held in Tehran on Monday.

He said Sanandaj will host the finals in the Iranian calendar month of Mehr (September-October).

He added that although there had been speculation earlier about the possibility of holding the competition in Tehran, considering the enthusiasm and passion observed among the honorable and noble people of Kordestan, despite some infrastructural shortcomings, the decision was made to hold this year’s competitions in Kordestan.

He noted that unlike previous editions, the final round of this year’s competition will be organized simultaneously in the men and women sections.

The National Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran, organized by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, is the largest Quranic contest in Iran, attracting participants from across the country to compete in various categories.

The annual competition, regarded as the most prestigious Quranic events in Iran, aims to promote Islamic values, foster Quranic literacy, and celebrate exceptional talent.

The top winners will represent Iran in international Quran competitions across the world.

Majidimehr also referred to the preparations for the 42nd International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran and said invitations have been sent to different countries for introducing their representatives.

He noted that invitations have been sent to 170 countries and it is expected that some 110 countries will name their contestants for this year’s Quranic event.
