Hojat-ol-Islam Mahmoud Mohammadi Shahoudi, head of the Basij Organization of Seminarians and Clerics, made the remark at the opening ceremony of the second Quran competition for seminary students and clerics in Shiraz on Wednesday.
The new Islamic civilization will only be realized through a Quranic society, and such a society depends on the deep learning and promotion of divine knowledge, he added.
Referring to the importance of getting close to the Quran in personal and social life, he stressed that the Quran is the book of guidance, life and salvation, and connection to it leads to salvation in this world and the next.
He also highlighted a Hadith from the Holy prophet (PBUH) that says whoever wants to have a happy life and die among the martyrs should be close to the Quran.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi Shahroudi added that if Muslims want to be safe from the despair of the Day of Judgment, they should live by the Quran, because it is the Book of Allah that shows the way of salvation in this world and the next.
He described the Quran as the main and fundamental element for building the Islamic society and, referring to the message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on the occasion of the centenary of the re-establishment of the Qom Islamic Seminary, said the Leader considered the most important mission of the Islamic seminary to be linking religious theorizing and revolutionary action with the focus on the knowledge of the Quran.

Noting that more than 10,000 male and female seminary students from all over the country have participated in the competition, he said the presence of this large number of seminarians shows the enormous capacity of seminaries in promoting the knowledge of the Quran.
