Shah Hussein Goyan Ritual in Iran’s Tabriz during Muharram
IQNA – Shah Hussein Goyan is one of the religious rituals of Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, including the provincial capital Tabriz, during the mourning period of the month of Muharram.
This traditional mourning begins before the month of Muharram and continues until the day of Ashura. In the Azeri language, people call this ceremony “Shakhsi’, which is an abbreviation of the word “Shah (king) Hussein”.
